When the time came to implement PTZ cameras in the infrastructure of the Television Production and Postproduction Techniques program in ATM at the Cégep de Jonquière, the control of all the cameras' colorimetry parameters was paramount. Students learn to calibrate the different production cameras to get the best results on screen. The addition of PTZ cameras had to fit in.

Looking at the different possibilities offered by the manufacturers of professional PTZ cameras, none of them had a control module that allowed quick and easy control of all the colorimetry data while operating the cameras directly. There were menus to access to get there. We wanted something more user-friendly.

During a visit to the NAB Show, we met the people from RCT who showed us the CS-3 control panels. It was exactly what we were looking for: a simple solution, with all the color controls and ease of operation for camera movements. Plus, a company from Montreal! The choice was made.

Being a training school, we acquired 4 panels to have full control over 4 PTZ cameras, in two separate control rooms, which allow us to divide the operations through more students. One student can focus on camera movements while a second student can control colors and iris openings in real time.

There are 2 CS-3 panels on our mobile production unit which produces in theaters throughout the Saguenay and on sports stages. The other two CS-3 units are included in our Overdrive automated control room.

The CS-3 panels allow us to precisely calibrate the colors of each PTZ camera. Operation is simple and efficient. The camera motion controls are just as effective and easy to use. The connection of the units is simple and fast. Ergonomic operation and rugged construction are two additional factors that make the CS-3 a must-have for PTZ control.
