Conestoga College, a leader in Ontario’s educational landscape, sought to enhance its sports broadcasting capabilities, delivering high-quality content for both live streaming and post-production. With the need for seamless integration across multiple camera types and production workflows, Aries Pro Solutions was tasked with designing and implementing a robust system to meet the college’s needs.

The final solution was a six-camera setup, including both studio and PTZ cameras, integrated into a professional broadcasting, recording, and streaming infrastructure using industry-leading control systems.

To meet the demands of a comprehensive sports coverage system, Aries Pro Solutions specified:

  • 4x Panasonic AK-HC3900 studio cameras (for fixed and courtside positions)

  • 2x Panasonic AW-UE160 PTZ cameras (for elevated positions above the running track)

The challenge arose with the installation of the two PTZ cameras in tight, elevated spaces, where traditional studio cameras could not be mounted. Despite these limitations, it was critical to maintain a consistent broadcast quality across all six cameras.

Key requirements included:

  • Seamlessly integrating the PTZ cameras with the Panasonic HC3900 studio cameras

  • Ensuring precise control over the PTZ functions despite their remote locations

  • Delivering a cohesive, professional broadcast output across all camera feeds

The Solution: RCT FR-1 Remote Camera Control System + Vizrt TriCaster TC2 Elite

Aries Pro Solutions deployed the RCT FR-1 Remote Camera Control System to solve these challenges, providing complete operational control over the PTZ cameras while ensuring they matched the output from the Panasonic AK-HC3900 studio cameras.

 1. RCT FR-1 Remote Camera Control System

The RCT FR-1 system gave operators the ability to remotely control the Panasonic AW-UE160 PTZ cameras with broadcast-quality precision. The FR-1 system enabled operators to:

  • Control pan, tilt, zoom, and focus of the PTZ cameras with exceptional accuracy

  • Match color profiles, white balance, and exposure settings to the AK-HC3900 studio cameras

  • Store and recall camera presets, enabling consistent framing and shot composition during live events

  • Integrate the PTZs into the broader broadcast system with ease, despite their elevated, hard-to-reach installations

This system made it possible for the two PTZ cameras, mounted above the track, to function like studio cameras—ensuring consistent visual quality across the entire setup.

 2. Vizrt TriCaster TC2 Elite

The system was fully integrated with the Vizrt TriCaster TC2 Elite, which provided a unified platform for:

  • Live switching between all six camera feeds

  • Recording sports events for later use

  • Streaming live broadcasts to multiple platforms (YouTube, social media, internal networks)

  • Implementing graphics, replays, and other broadcast enhancements

The TriCaster TC2 Elite served as the central hub for all production needs, ensuring a smooth, professional output with real-time control over camera angles and live production elements.

With the successful integration of the RCT FR-1 system, Aries Pro Solutions enabled Conestoga College to achieve broadcast-level video production with limited space constraints.
